Free Warm Clothing Shop To Open In Southington

The 'store,' operated by Southington Community Services, will be open on Saturdays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Mother Nature is still trying to determine if the weather will still be summer or transition to fall, but the Town of Southington is ready to help folks prep for the cold.

Starting Saturday, Oct. 4, Southington Community Services will open its annual "Operation Stay Warm Winter Clothing Shop."

Located at the Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 Church St., Plantsville, the shop allows folks who need them to get much-needed warm clothing such as coats, hats, mittens, gloves, and other accessories for the family.

All items are available at no cost "due to the generosity of the community partners and Southington community," wrote the town.

The shop will be open on Saturdays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for different periods of time.

Meanwhile, the shop is always looking for donations of gently used, warm clothing.
