Longtime Firefighter Calls It A Career In Southington

The Southington Fire Department and the firefighters' union announced the retirement of the beloved fire department veteran after 19 years.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A beloved firefighter in the Southington Fire Department has called it a career there, with the SFD bidding him adieu Thursday.

The hybrid paid/volunteer Southington Fire Department said goodbye to veteran senior firefighter Eric Chase, who retired after 19 years this week.

"Congratulations, and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors," wrote the SFD.

Chase was also a prominent member of Southington Professional Firefighters Local 2033, with the union also wishing him good luck.

"Have a happy, healthy, and safe retirement. You’ve earned it," wrote the union in a post Thursday.
