Major Staff Changes Announced At Southington FD

The Southington Fire Department recently announced a major retirement in its ranks, along with two other promotions.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A litany of staff and leadership changes has been finalized at the Southington Fire Department, with one major retirement and two new roles announced.

For starters, Southington FD Chief Eric Heath officially retired from the SFD after 26 years of service to the department. The SFD congratulated Heath via Facebook on Nov. 2.

"Chief Heath's passion for education, leadership, and excellence in the fire service has left a lasting impact on our department and community," wrote the SFD of Heath.

"His commitment to developing others and advancing the profession will continue to resonate throughout our ranks for years to come."

While Heath's long career has ended, another veteran firefighter with the SFD continues with new roles.

The Southington FD announced that SFD Assistant Chief Scott Lee will assume the role of interim fire chief until a permanent replacement for Heath is named.

Meanwhile, Lee was also sworn in on Monday as the new Southington fire marshal.

Then, on Thursday, Nov. 6, the SFD announced the promotion of Jon Moise, who was appointed as SDF Co. 1's newest lieutenant.

"His dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving the community will continue to drive SFD into the future," wrote the department.
