In Memoriam: Nicola Sabino

Nicola Sabino, 88, of Southington, devoted husband of the late Saveria (Ragozzino) Sabino for 63 years, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 at the Southington Care Center surrounded by his family.

Born in Treglia, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni Battista and Teresa (Scirocco) Sabino.

He moved to France and later Switzerland and came to the US in 1968. He was a devout Roman Catholic, a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Sons of Italy. He loved working in the garden, loved having coffee with his friends but most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by daughters Teresa Scirocco and her husband Vincenzo, Josephine Sabino and her husband Pasquale Funiciello all of Southington, his two grandchildren Giuseppe Scirocco and his wife Tina, Elisa Plourd and her husband Ben, four great-grandchildren Nicholas, Giancarlo, Gianna Scirocco and Sienna Nicole Plourd. He also leaves a brother Enrico Sabino of Italy.

He was predeceased by two brothers Giuseppe and Gaetano.

The Funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 19th at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 18th from 5 to 8 p.m.
