In Memoriam: Ryan W. Carlson

The Southington resident passed away Dec. 19 at the age of 24.

Ryan W. Carlson, 24, of Southington, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015.

He was born on January 15, 1991 in New Britain, the loving son of William and Kathleen (Maguire) Carlson.

Ryan was a Southington High School graduate, Class of 2009. He then worked as an HVAC apprentice. Ryan played Southington Midget Football League. He also played baseball at Southington North Little League, Southington High School and then in the Southington Men’s Softball League where he was able to win a division championship alongside his dad for their team, Bottom Time Scuba. Ryan loved spending time in Maine with his family snowmobiling. He was an avid Yankees and Steelers fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Matthew Carlson of Southington; his maternal grandmother, Marion Parsell, his great-grandmother, Marion Porter, both of Plantsville; uncle James Maguire (Donna) of Plantsville; uncle Clifford Carlson (Carol) of Clinton; aunt Suzanne Carlson-Ciofalo of Guilford; aunt Sharon Carlson (Kathryn Jerling) of Cheshire; maternal great-aunt, Patricia Stone of Plantsville, many cousins and his beloved dog Cooper.

He was predeceased by his sister Megan Carlson, his paternal grandparents, William and Marylou Carlson, his uncle Michael Carlson, his maternal great-grandfather, Francis Porter and his maternal grandfather, Blaine Parsell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ryan’s memory may be made to Teen Challenge New England Chapter, 86 Spring St., New Haven, CT 06519 or to the CT Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave, Meriden, CT 06450.
