Motorcyclist Spotted Doing Wheelies Before Serious Southington Crash: Police
The collision between a motorcycle and a BMW is still under investigation, according to police.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in a collision with a BMW on Queen Street Monday night.
Police said the accident happened around 8:24 p.m. just north of the intersection with Spring Street.
An investigation determined that a 22-year-old Southington man was riding a Yamaha MT07 motorcycle northbound on Queen Street.

A BMW 328 sedan, operated by an 18-year-old Southington teen, was traveling southbound on Queen Street. The BMW attempted to turn left into a McDonald’s restaurant parking lot, and it collided with the motorcycle in the northbound lane, according to police.
“Witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling erratically in the area prior to the collision,” police said, in a press release Wednesday.

According to police, witnesses told investigators the motorcycle had been traveling at high speeds and performing “wheelies” on Queen Street.
Police said the motorcycle operator suffered serious injuries and was transported to The Hospital of Central Connecticut - New Britain General Campus for treatment. The BMW driver was not injured.
The accident is still under investigation, and no one has been cited as being at fault for the collision at this time, according to police.
