Southington PZC May Decide New Housing Development Tuesday

The PZC will listen to testimony regarding a Southington developer's plans to build an 'active adult housing development.'

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The town Tuesday is expected to listen to and, possibly, decide a developer's plans to build an adult housing development in town.

The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday, Oct. 4, has a public hearing scheduled for 7 p.m. in the public assembly room in the town's municipal center, 196 N. Main St.

There, the PZC will listen to testimony regarding Southington-based AA Denorfia Building & Development's plans to build an "active adult housing development."

The developer is seeking both special permit and site plan approval for the project, which would be built at 570 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike.

According to project plans, the development would consist of 23 single-family units and require connection to sewers, water, utilities and storm drainage.

It would also be served by a private road, according to the proposal.

Property abutters have been notified of the potential development and they, along with the rest of the public, can testify before the town's top land-use board.

Once the hearing is closed by the PZC, it can vote on both applications regarding the development, possible as soon as Tuesday.
