Several Southington Causes Get Big Boost From Local United Way

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The United Way of Southington last week announced its 2025–26 partner agencies to support critical programs that directly serve the people of Southington and its villages.

This year’s list includes a mix of returning partners and new collaborations aimed at addressing food insecurity, education, health, youth outreach, and crisis support.

“Each organization selected this year demonstrates an unwavering commitment to
improving the lives of Southington residents,” said Britt Elise Lynch, Executive Director of
United Way of Southington. “We’re thrilled to continue supporting proven programs while
also introducing new efforts that reflect emerging needs in our community.”

All funded programs are required to serve Southington-area residents.

The 2025–26 partner agencies and funded programs are:

• The Giving Back Food Pantry– For the purchase of food to support residents
experiencing food insecurity.

• Southington Bread for Life – Funding food purchases for their soup kitchen and
"Meals on Wheels" program.

• Southington Community Services – Supporting "Feed Our Families," a 2025–26
initiative that empowers clients within the Social Security system through education
focused on healthy choices.

• LiveWell Alliance (new partner) – Launching a pilot program, "Nourish and
Flourish: Eating for Brain Health," which connects nutrition with cognitive wellness.

• Margaret C. Griffin Child Development Center – Funding a part-time teacher for
the center’s 3-year-old early education program.

• Literacy Volunteers of Central CT – Supporting adult learners with instructional
materials, digital learning subscriptions, transportation assistance, and tutor
training.

• Southington Community YMCA – Funding the youth outreach program at
Summerbrook Apartments, which serves local youth with critical mentorship and
support.

• Prudence Crandall Center in New Britain – Supporting staff salaries for domestic violence
prevention and intervention services directly impacting local clients.

Additionally, United Way of Southington is increasing its commitment to 211, Connecticut’s
free and confidential information and referral helpline.

Southington saw a rise from 2,570 local calls in 2022 to 2,975 in 2024, not including thousands of online searches on 211ct.org.

Increased support through the CT network of United Ways will help add more contact specialists and ensure hundreds more calls can be answered each week.

“These investments are about meeting real people where they are—with the right
resources at the right time,” said Lynch. “We thank every donor and volunteer who makes
