Southington Is 2nd-Hottest ZIP Code For Homes In U.S.: Report

Realtor.com says Southington is the second-hottest place to buy or sell a home in the country, according to a report last month.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — It's been warm in recent days, a byproduct of a late-summer heat wave that, last week, actually prompted schools to dismiss early.

But it's more than warm in Southington, it's hot, as in it having the second-hottest ZIP code last month by Realtor.com.

According to Realtor.com, Southington's "06489" ZIP code places second in the nation when it comes to homebuyer demand, quality and affordability.

Topping the list is the "43230" ZIP code of Gahanna, Ohio, nestled in the Columbus, Ohio, area, according to Realtor.com.

Southington, according to the real estate website, is located in the Hartford metro area, and it boasts a median home price of $368,000 with an average of just 18 days on the market.

Basically, folks want to live in Southington and those selling homes in Southington are not finding it difficult to sell.

"Our list of top 10 zip codes shows the concentration of buyer demand in affordable Midwest markets and well-located Northeast markets that offer convenience and value," wrote Realtor.com in the report, which was released Aug. 24.

"Homes in the hottest zip codes tend to be larger than the U.S. average. Despite their size advantage, a majority of the hottest ZIPs see prices at or below the U.S. median."

The only other Connecticut town to make the list was Norwalk, whose "06851' ZIP code came in eighth.
