Southington Bank Robbery Suspect Dead After Schools Put Into Lockdown
Police are investigating the robbery, in which the suspect crashed a car and slit his own throat.

Three Southington Public Schools were placed in lockdown following a reported bank robbery, Eyewitness News reports.
TD Bank, located at 921 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, was reportedly robbed at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday. The robbery suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money in an older model blue car, police said.

The suspect’s car struck another vehicle and crashed, according to witnesses, and police followed him to the Marion Avenue and Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike area.
Police said the suspect kicked in the door to an unoccupied home and slit his own throat. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead, and investigators have not released his name or age.

The investigation is ongoing in the closed area, which drivers are advised to avoid. School lockdowns ended at approximately 10:30 a.m.
