Ryan Garry, 27, of Beecher Street, was handed down the sentence this week in New Britain Superior Court.

According to judicial records, he pleaded guilty to one count of interfering with police/resisting in connection with an incident on June 28, 2019. Police said they were called to his home that day for a medical call and, while there, Garry charged at police officers and tried to strike them. After a struggle with police, he was taken into custody, police said.

Two officers suffered minor injuries.

Garry was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, though these charges were not ultimately pursued.

Garry was sentenced to five months in prison in connection with the interfering charge. He was also sentenced to 19 months in connection with a number of other, unrelated charges.

Garry was also arrested in connection with an incident in April 2018, though that case was not prosecuted. Police in that case said Garry broke into a home to seek revenge after he was assaulted a year earlier by a resident of the home. He was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. Judicial records indicate those charges were dropped.
