SOUTHINGTON, CT — A local woman is realizing a professional dream this Saturday, Nov. 1, when she will open a new women's health center specializing in reproductive health.

Longtime Southington resident Ariel Herron will open FEM this Saturday, Nov. 1, at 1460 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Southington.

Herron will cut the ribbon on “FEM," which is a women’s health practice, offering personalized gynecologic care through a fee-for-service model.

She has been caring for women for over 20 years — first as a registered nurse, and for the past eight years as a CNM.

Herron lives with her husband and three children in her hometown of Southington.

She described her new venture as "a first-of-its-kind women’s health practice ... blending the midwifery model of care with comprehensive gynecologic and reproductive health services."

“At its heart, my practice is about giving women time, respect, and evidence-based care,” Herron said. “I never want a patient to feel rushed or like they’re just a number. Every woman deserves to be heard, supported, and cared for as a whole person.”

In addition to women’s health services, FEM will soon offer hypnotherapy as a supportive mind–body approach to wellness.

FEM services include birth control and contraception management, menstrual and hormonal care, perimenopause and menopause support, infection and problem visits, and preventative well-woman exams.

“My approach is holistic, respectful, and never rushed,” said Herron. “This is an area of our health that deserves the utmost care and attention, and I’m so excited to be part of a positive change.”

Herron says FEM is ideal for women who are uninsured or underinsured, or anyone seeking a more personal healthcare experience.

According to Herron, her new venture started when she noticed problems in the way women receive health care through traditional means.

She said preventive care was overlooked, symptoms were dismissed, and "many women didn’t feel truly heard or understood."

“I realized so many women were falling through the cracks,” Herron said. “They’d tell me they loved their birth experience but didn’t have a trusted provider to go to afterward.

"I wanted to create a space where women could come for all stages of life—not just pregnancy.”
