Southington Police Blotter: Cell Phone Crackdown Continues (And More)

The following arrest information was provided by the Southington Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Drivers using cell phones while on the road can expect to face the consequences.

Southington police this week have now issued 23 separate citations for those using a cell phone while driving, including 12 additional citations in the latest arrest logs. But that's just the start of the police activity reported. Take a look at the latest arrest logs.

The Southington Police Department reported the following arrests:

May 7


Barry A. McPhail, 48, of 420 King St. in Bristol, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure to obey traffic signal, May 7. 

Fernando Colon, 28, of 66 Bliss St. in Hartford, was charged with second-degree failure to appear, May 7.


Other stats from reported traffic stops and incidents:

  • Twelve (12) people were cited with using a cell phone while driving.
  • Five people were cited with operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • Two people were cited wit operating a motor vehicle without a license.
  • One person was cited with speeding/traveling too fast.
  • One person was cited with making an improper/illegal turn.
  • One person was cited with pedestrian using a roadway in a dangerous manner.
  • One person was cited with improper passing.
