Southington Police Earn Awards for Traffic Programs

For the 3rd consecutive year, the department won a first place award for its Child Passenger Safety program.

The Southington Police Department has been recognized for its efforts in traffic safety.

At the 2015 Law Enforcement Summit on Traffic Safety held on Dec. 3 at the Webster bank Arena in Bridgeport, the department was awarded second place in its category for its traffic safety and enforcement efforts.

For the third consecutive year, the department also was awarded best overall Child Passenger Safety Program. It was the fourth time in five years the department has been awarded top program. The Connecticut Law Enforcement Challenge considers department Policies and Guidelines; Training of officers; Incentives and recognition, public information and education; enforcement activity and effectiveness of efforts.

This is the eighth straight year the Southington Police Department has been recognized through the CT Police Chief’s Law enforcement Challenge. The department previously earned first place three times. The department also also has earned three second place awards, as well as a third place and honorable mention awards.
