Southington Shoplifting Suspect Charged

The man and an accomplice are accused of stealing merchandise and returning it for store credit.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - A 33-year-old man is facing larceny and burglary charges in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart last summer.

According to Southington Police, the suspect and an accomplice went to the Queen Street store on Aug. 8 and placed merchandise from the store shelves put it in a shopping cart. The pair then left the shopping cart near the service desk and left the store, police said.

The suspect, identified as Adam M. Rolon, 33, of Torrington, and the accomplice “returned to the store about six minutes later, took the shopping cart with the merchandise they previously put in the cart and went to the service desk. At the service desk they returned the merchandise in the cart for store credit,” according to a police report. Rolon is accused of returning two items and received $79.76 in store credit.

Police arrested Rolon on Feb. 19 when he was brought to state Superior Court in Bristol to be processed on the arrest warrant. Police said Rolon was jailed at the Osborn Correctional Institute for probation violation related to a separate burglary offense.

Rolon was charged with sixth-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary. Bond for Rolon, who remains in custody, was set at $1,500.

Police said there is a warrant pending for the accomplice.
