Suspect in Southington Home Depot Tool Thefts Surrenders

The suspect is accused of stealing power tools worth thousands of dollars last summer.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - A second suspect has been arrested in connection with three shoplifting incidents last summer at the Home Depot stores in Southington.

Southington Police obtained arrest warrants for the suspect who they said entered the Home Depot, selected power tools from the shelves and then exited the store without paying for the tools.

The suspect was identified as Ryan M. Cordone, 29, of 19 Strathmore Rd., West Haven. Police said that in two of the three incidents Cordone had an accomplice who they identified as Laurence Bardinelli who was arrested in August for the thefts.

Bardinelli is serving an 18-month sentence after pleading guilty to fourth-degree larceny in October, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

During the third incident there was an unknown accomplice allegedly with Cordone, according to police.

According to police, on July 6, $1,266 worth of tools were reported stolen; $1,176 in tools on July 9, and $1,326 in tools on July 25.

Cordone surrendered to police on Feb. 29. He was was charged with two counts each of fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass, and one count of third-degree larceny.

Cordone posted bonds totaling $20,000 and was scheduled to appear March 21 in state Superior Court in Bristol.

After posting bond, Cordone was turned over to the Hamden Police Department who obtained arrest warrants charging him with criminal trespass and fifth-degree larceny, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch. He was released on $500 bond on those charges.
