Town Council Supports Keeping Local Hospital Inpatient Facility Open

The council penned a letter agreeing with the multiple citizens against the closing.

The Southington Town Council sent a letter to the Public Health Commissioner expressing its agreement with the majority of citizens who want to keep the inpatient facility at Bradley Memorial Hospital from closing, Eyewitness News reports.

The letter said the council “unanimously agreed with our citizens that we absolutely need a fully functioning hospital and emergency department,” and the the council “also unanimously agreed to write a letter in support of our citizens and to stand with them as we attempt to save our hospital.”

The council penned the letter following public outcry when the hospital announced it would close the inpatient facility and the emergency department, and relocate the latter to Queen Street. Hartford HealthCare put the request on hold after hearings with citizens and the town council.
