Veteran Firefighter Calls It A Career In Southington

The battalion chief retired on Saturday, June 21, after multiple decades of service in Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — One of the Southington Fire Department's longest-serving firefighters has retired, ending a quarter-century stint at the SFD.

Southington FD Battalion Chief Keith Glabau officially retired last week after 25 years of service, with his colleagues honoring him for his work.

According to the SFD, Glabau's last day was Saturday, June 21, ending a "distinguished 25-year career to the Town of Southington."

Glabau has been the battalion chief at the SFD since February 2023, when he was officially sworn in to that top leadership post.
