What Road in Southington Needs a Speed Bump?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.
While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Southington. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

- "Hobart Street, please, please, please! It takes a lot of patience and luck just to back out of our driveway, so we've decided to ruin part of our yard just so we can turn around and pull out of the driveway instead. If you're late, leave earlier. There is absolutely no need to fly down this road at 40+, school buses included!"
- "Eden Ave. at Liberty St. Maybe then people wouldn't fly down it like it's an expressway. Or a stop sign would work there, too. Two schools in the area and people fly down this road."
- "The condition of the roads in this town makes it seem like they all have speed bumps."
- "Deerbrooke Cir. Don't let the name fool you...people fly down the straightaway with tons of kids playing in the neighborhood!"
- "Mount Vernon. Cars pass you out when you aren't even going slow. It's a residential road, not a speedway."
- "None, speed bumps are stupid - the deterants like the speed signs by depalo are much better than wreckin your exhaust or causing an accident."
- "West Center St. It's like a race to see who can get to the top first!"
- "Annelise Ave and any street within a half mile of the high school."
- "Flanders street! People use this road as a raceway!"
- "Berlin Avenue we always get cars in our front lawn."
