Windsor Man Badly Hurt In Southington Crash: Police

The 27-year-old suffered 'serious' injuries in a highway accident Saturday night.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 27-year-old Windsor man was seriously injured in a violent crash in Southington in which the vehicle he was operating crossed a highway median and slammed into another vehicle going the other way.

Connecticut state police said the crash happened on Interstate 691 in Southington at 9:40 p.m. Saturday.

According to a state police accident report released Sunday, a 2009 Acura being driven by the Windsor man was traveling east on I-691 in Southington .

Police said the Acura then veered across all eastbound travel lanes, the center grass median, and into I-691 west travel lanes.

While on I-691 west, the Acura slammed into a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck being driven by a 37-year-old Prospect woman.

The Prospect woman and an occupant of the pickup, a 67-year-old Prospect man, suffered "minor" injuries and were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, according to police.

A passenger in the Acura, a 24-year-old Windsor resident, was taken to St. Mary's with a minor injury, police said.

The Windsor man driving the Acura, however, suffered a "suspected serious injury" and was taken to St. Mary's, according to police.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
