UPDATE: Elderly Woman Robbed of Purse Outside Southington Theater
The victim needed hospital treatment following the Tuesday afternoon purse snatching.

Southington Police are searching for the man they say snatched a purse from an elderly town woman headed to the movies Tuesday afternoon.
It was just minutes before 2 p.m. Jan. 12 when the 72-year-old victim reported to Southington Police that her purse was stolen as she walked towards the Starplex Cinemas at 1821 Meriden - Waterbury Tpke.

Two women were walking towards the theater from the parking lot and as they came up to the front doors, a man came up from behind them and pushed the victim in the back, according to police. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse and ran towards the Rochambeau Mall. The victim chased the suspect but she fell to the ground and suffered a facial injury, police said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries, according to police.

The suspect, described as a white male, slim build, wearing a blue winter jacket with a blue knit hat, was last seen running in an easterly direction through the Rochambeau Mall. A K-9 track for the suspect was unsuccessful, police said.
The value of the purse and its contents was not given.
