The wait is finally over!
The Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at 845 Sullivan Ave. had its grand opening today at 10 a.m.
Co-owner Bob Larkin said that the response has been "awesome," with a line forming at 9:45 a.m. and the "phone has been ringing off the hook."
Not that there weren't a few tense moments with this morning's weather.
"But the sun came out and the rain went away," said co-owner Heidi Larkin.
In celebration of its grand opening today - there was a soft opening Saturday - all cakes at the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill are half price this week, Heidi Larkin said.
The South Windsor Miniature Golf Course - which is situated behind the Dairy Queen - is also scheduled to open at 4 p.m. today as well.
All of which was music to South Windsor residents' ears.
"The kids have been waiting for this for a while," said Angela Willoughby, who was there with her son. "It's very nice."
