College Milestones Achieved By Students From South Windsor

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted as they are received in the coming weeks.

Assumption University, Worcester MA

• Assumption University has announced those who have been named to the University's Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester, including Ashleigh Purcell, Dominic Bonanno and Sean Leary, all of South Windsor. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters.

Bentley University, Waltham MA

• Emma Hapkiewicz of South Windsor recently graduated from Bentley University with a degree in finance. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and taught local schoolchildren. She competed in swimming for Bentley and had an outstanding career, including setting Northeast-10 Conference records in the 1,000 and 1,650 yard events. In 2024, she was named the university's Female Athlete of the Year across all sports, was Northeast-10 Female Swimmer of the Year for the second straight season, and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships for the third consecutive year.

College of the Holy Cross, Worcester MA

• Andrea Correia of South Windsor received a bachelor of arts degree from College of the Holy Cross. Correia is among 751 bachelor of arts degree recipients Holy Cross celebrated at its 178th Commencement held in person on Friday, May 24 at the DCU Center in Worcester.

Springfield College, Springfield MA

• Springfield College has named eight students from South Windsor to the dean's list for academic excellence for the 2024 spring semester. They are Jennifer Burnham, Evan Carlson, Justin Clark, Victoria DelRosso, Riley Donahue, Lyndsay Donston, Karen Joy and Samantha Van Horn.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

• Karly Higgins of South Windsor was among 625 students to process at Stonehill College's 73rd Commencement on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• South Windsor residents Zachary Manfredi, who majored in chemical engineering, and
  Jia Yazon, who majored in chemical engineering and professional writing, were among the graduates at WPI's 155th Commencement on May 10. Nearly 1,100 undergraduate degrees were awarded during the ceremony.
