COVID Memorial Coming To South Windsor; Approved By Town Council
The Town Council voted 6-2 on party lines to create a memorial garden at the Major Michael Donnelly Land Preserve using grant money.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The Major Michael Donnelly Land Preserve will soon be home to a garden honoring its residents who have been impacted by COVID-19.
The Town Council approved the memorial garden with a 6-2 vote on party lines during its meeting Monday night, according to the action minutes from the Oct. 18 meeting.
Republicans Lisa Maneeley and Janice Snyder opposed the project, according to the minutes.

The garden will be located at 1165 Sullivan Avenue and will be funded using a $7,284.12 grant that the town has been approved to receive from Home Depot's Team Depot, the minutes said.
Councilors have been discussing the creation of a memorial to "honor residents that have been impacted by COVID-19" since March 15, 2021, the agenda said.

Now, the Town Council has granted Town Manager Michael Maniscalco the power to sign and execute any documents needed to ensure South Windsor secures the money from Home Depot and implements the project.
