DQ's Soft Opening for Soft Serve in South Windsor

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill had a soft opening Saturday, serving free food in preparation for its grand opening on June 3.

The owners of the new Dairy Queen Grill & Chill couldn’t have asked for a better day to hold the business’ soft opening on Saturday.

Indeed, temperatures that reached into the 90s brought a cavalcade of invitees to the new eatery located on Sullivan Avenue.

“We put the fix in months ago,” co-owner Bob Larkin quipped. “But it’s been wonderful. Everybody loves the place.”

People fortunate enough to score an invite (including a certain Patch editor who was merely there for research purposes) were treated to free Blizzards, cones, shakes, hot dogs, cheeseburgers and other items on the menu, as staff geared up for the official opening to the public on June 3 at 10 a.m.

The DQ’s arrival was much-anticipated and much-welcomed.

“I’m extremely happy,” said resident Andy Giordano. “Especially because it’s all free.”
