East Windsor Apartment Complex Residents Surprised Over Shooting
Residents say nothing like the shooting death of a 22-year-old Enfield man ever happens at the 47-acre apartment complex.

Residents of the Mill Pond Village apartment complex in Broad Brook expressed their surprise over the shooting that took place Sunday evening that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Enfield resident.
Zachary McArthur was allegedly shot in the chest inside a Mill Pond Village apartment; McArthur’s girlfriend subsequently drove him back to Enfield before he was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, where he died.
Officials said that two men - Michael Thompson, the apartment’s resident, and Antonio “Tony” Gonzalez - are persons of interest in the case.
WFSB reported that the killing was likely drug-related.
"All parties involved knew each other and this was not a random act of violence," the police press release said.
And while police have been known to patrol the sprawling, 47-acre apartment complex, residents said that such acts of violence were atypical.
Indeed, the scene at the complex on Monday - parents picking up their children off the school bus and of kids skateboarding nearby - belied the act of extreme violence that took place the night before.
“It’s pretty quiet here; nothing like that ever happens,” said one resident who declined to give her name.
Another resident, who also declined to identify herself, said that she had been living in the apartment complex for five years.
“Nothing like that has ever happened before,” she said.
One more resident - who also declined to give her name - said that she heard police outside of her apartment around 3:30 a.m. this morning, but thought nothing of it.
“You hear police sometimes … things happen, but not like that,” she said.
East Windsor police issued a press release, adding that the department would not be providing any additional details on the matter.
The state police major crime unit is assisting with the case, police said.
Anyone with information is urged to call the East Windsor Police Department at 860-292-8240.
