Chevva, a fourth-grade student at the CREC Academy of International Studies, won first place for his energy-saving billboard advertisement design. His simple design, with houses set against a black background and tagline of “Turn Off the Light, To Make CT Bright,” shows homes with lights used sparingly to encourage people to turn off lights when they are not needed.
More than 600 students throughout Connecticut submitted projects for consideration. Twenty-nine entries from 19 schools in 16 Connecticut communities were selected as this year’s finalists.
