Geissler's to Continue 90th Anniversary Celebration in South Windsor
Saturday's event will be the fourth of seven such celebrations in the area.
In an era of big box supermarkets like Super Stop & Shop, Walmart and Target, the small Geissler’s Supermarket chain keeps chugging along.
Indeed, Geissler’s, which started in East Windsor, is continuing its month-long celebration of 90 years of doing business locally.
The celebration will have an event tomorrow at its South Windsor location at 965 Sullivan Ave. with a cake cutting at 10 a.m. with Mary Geissler Nilsson, daughter of the store’s founder.
The first 90 customers will be given a Geissler’s reusable shopping bag “filled with goodies,” according to Geissler’s Marketing Coordinator Carol Carlson. Also, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., the store will be handing out a variety of samples and demonstrations.
Several other area supermarkets will have a similar day scheduled throughout April (see the listing below).
Carlson said that Geissler’s has endured through a simple formula of delivering high-quality products at competitive prices.
“It’s customer service,” Carlson said. “It’s fresh meats, bakery items and the deli. We don’t just try to move in bulk. We have good quality.”
Celebration Schedule:
April 20 - South Windsor
April 22 - Agawam, Mass.
April 27 - Granby
April 29 - Bloomfield
