K9 Mason Wins $500 Grant In National Fundraiser: South Windsor PD
The South Windsor Police Department was one of two agencies in the northeast and 21 nationwide to win grant money for their K9s' expenses.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The South Windsor Police Department has been awarded $500 to cover its K9 Officer Mason's expenses in a nationwide contest, the department announced on Thursday.
The department was one of two agencies in the northeast and 21 nationwide to win grant money from the K9 Aftermath Grant, a program run by biohazard and crime scene cleanup company Aftermath.
"The $500 will be put to good use in support of Mason and our goal of keeping him safe and healthy as he serves the town of South Windsor!" the department wrote on its Facebook page.

Mason, a German Shepard, joined the force earlier this year. He and his handler, Officer Zachary Cosenza, completed a 14-week Connecticut State Police training program that began in March.

He was awarded a "$500 honorable mention" in the competition, along with six other agencies nationwide.
The other northeast winner was the Charlton Police Department in Massachusetts, which won a $1,000 runner-up prize, according to the contest website.
