Letter to the Editor: Resident Opposes Delnicki's Attempt to Force Primary
The following is an opinion expressed by a South Windsor resident. It is not an endorsement by the South Windsor Patch.

To the Editor:
I resigned from the South Windsor Republican Town Committee this past Spring in large part due to my perception that our Political Leader Mayor Delnicki had little to no interest in working with the party that has supported him over the years.
His unwillingness to speak to many RTC members, caucus with fellow Republican councilors and operate, in essence, as an Independent was very frustrating to me as an RTC member - so I quit the RTC and so did Mayor Delnicki not too long after my departure - you quit the RTC Mayor Delnicki - yet you seek their support today? I realize that this independent streak may be favorable to some but Mayor Delnicki is not acting Independently if he is seeking a nomination from the party that does not want to nominate him - he is just being stubborn.
The reality of political parties is that they work together for common goals and support their candidates philosophically and financially - that is just how it works. Mayor Delinicki if you are at odds with the South Windsor Republican Party philosophically and otherwise, why do you continue to seek a nomination under its banner?
The Republican Nominating Committee took the bold step not to nominate a sitting Mayor for their upcoming slate and you chose to go through the Caucus the other night to have your name entered on the ballot (which is your absolute right) and your efforts failed once again among a record crowd of over 200 Republicans in mid July that came out to make sure your name did not appear on the ballot under the Republican banner.
There is another avenue you may choose to go down and that is to force a primary - potentially costing South Windsor Tax Payers up to $10,000 and asking Republicans to once again come out and vote against your nomination.
Mayor Delnicki you often speak of fiscal responsibility and are slow to turn a dollar over to our South Windsor athletes, students, senior citizens and residents for much needed facility improvements and developments around town - please walk that same walk when it comes to yourself and do not force a primary costing ALL tax payers more money just because you are having difficulty dealing with "No".
The Republican Party has spoken - the people have spoken - your nomination to the ballot under the Republican banner is not desired by the Republican Party. Thank you for your service to the town over the years but maybe it is time to allow others to make decisions about the future of this great town.
