'Sharrows' to be Added to Chapel Road

What's a sharrow? Read on to find out!

Chapel Road in South Windsor is getting a new look.

Sharrows, or shared lane markings, will soon be added to the road to make travel safer for everyone this summer, according to the Town of South Windsor.

On Chapel Road, residents will see sharrows in the following areas:

  • Approaching Ellington Road (Route 30); and
  • John Fitch Road (Route 5).
"Sharrows on Chapel Road will only appear for short stretches of the road and will direct cars and bicyclists to ride single file, allowing bicycles safe access to the left turn lane and cars safe access to the right turn lane," reads a statement on the Town Web site.
