Here’s the latest on how former scholastic athletes from South Windsor are faring at the collegiate level:
Two Casiano women had great Saturdays for their respective women's lacrosse teams. Amber Casiano (South Windsor High ‘09), a senior midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, matched her career high by scoring four goals in a 13-12 victory over Binghamton on April 6. She is third on the team (4-7) in goals scored with 14 (16 points overall). ... Ashley Casiano (South Windsor High '09), the starting goalie for the Marist College women's lacrosse team, had 12 saves and 3 ground balls in a 13-4 victory over on April 6. Casiano has started all 13 games for the 5-8 Red Foxes. She has made 96 saves on the year and has a .440 save percentage. ... South Windsor native Allyson Fournier (East Catholic High ‘11), a sophomore pitcher on the Tufts University softball team, continues to impress this season. Indeed, Fournier is 9-1 with a miniscule 0.38 ERA for the 20-2 Jumbos. She has 107 strikeouts in 56 innings, while allowing just 14 hits and 11 walks. Fournier, a First-Team All American last year, was named the NESCAC Player of the Week on March 25. … Brogan Canty (South Windsor High ‘12), a freshman attack at Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team, scored her second goal of the season on March 28 in an 18-8 victory over Castleton. … Greg Pendergast (South Windsor High ‘11), a sophomore defenseman on the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team, has started eight of nine games for the 4-5 Bobcats, picking up 17 ground balls along the way. … Aaron Sladyk (South Windsor '12), a freshman on the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team, is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 21 points (13 goals and 8 assists. He helped Mitchell College capture the NECC title at New London College on April 6. ... Kelsey Daniels’ (South Windsor High ‘10) UConn women’s lacrosse team is having a great year, posting a 9-1 record after 10 games. ... Michael Donahue (South Windsor High ‘09), a junior attack on the Western New England University men’s lacrosse team, is second on the team in goals scored with 15. He is fourth overall on the team in scoring with 18 points. Donahue had a goal in an 18-8 victory over Nichols College on April 2. ... Tori Thompson (South Windsor High ‘11), a sophomore catcher/outfielder on the University of Connecticut softball team, has appeared in 10 games for the 15-15 Huskies, including seven starts. She is batting .227 with 5 doubles and an RBI.
