The South Windsor girls lacrosse team's season came to a close Tuesday with a 10-5 loss to Cheshire in the first round of the Class L tournament.
Ashley Murtha and Sierra Hibbs scored two goals apiece, while Torri Russo had one for South Windsor.
Goalie Meg Brault had 11 saves.
The Bobcats ended the year with a 7-6-2 record.
"We went against a very good team," head coach Ed Duclos said. "I was proud of our kids."
Indeed, South Windsor found itself down 9-1 in the second half before clawing back to make it 9-5. The comeback fe short, but it was indicative of the team's season: the Bobcats may not have won every game, but their opponents walked away from each contest knowing they had just played South Windsor.
"That's what we wanted this year," Duclos said. "Toughness and character to never give up. We played to the last whistle."
