The 107 MPH Excuse In Willington — Driver Was 'Late For Work'
A driver caught doing 107 mph in Willington said he needed to get to work, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — A driver was arrested after traveling at 107 mph on Interstate 84 in Willington, state police said.
At 9:49 a.m. Monday, a state trooper was on a motor vehicle enforcement detail on the westbound side of the highway near exit 71 and observed a Honda sedan traveling well beyond the posted speed limit, according to an incident report.
Utilizing a laser unit, the trooper clocked the Honda's speed at 107 mph in a "clearly posted" 65 mph zone, according to an incident report.

As the trooper gave chase, the Honda was forced to slow down in traffic and it was pulled over in the area of Exit 70, according to an incident report.
The driver of the Honda, a 27-year-old Bloomfield man, then explained to the trooper that he was running late for work.

Nevertheless, he was charged with reckless driving and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on June 17, records show.
