Occupation:
Teacher-25 years
Family:
I have two daughters. They are 14 and 19.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
My husband serves on the Board of Finance.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
I have been a Board of Education member for four years and have been the Chair for the last two years.
Why are you seeking this office?
I have supported the PreK-8 students and I have helped implement positive change in the last four years. I hope to continue doing so.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
…the financial responsibility of running and maintaining high quality educational experiences in buildings that safely support the district’s programs.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
For four years I have been a member of this board so I understand the required roles, tasks and responsibilities. I have served as the Chair for the last two years and during that time the Board has had positive momentum, respectful debate and a collaborative spirit. They are a wonderful group of caring and knowledgable individuals and I believe that my leadership has guided us in being a cohesive and impactful group that has made decisions to benefit the students of Willington. My experience as a teacher helps me understand current federal, state and regional trends and issues thus allowing me to communicate them more clearly to the public. My own children attended Kindergarten-8th grade in this town so I am able to look at things through a parental perspective as well.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
It is my intent to continue developing Educational Specifications (EdSpecs) with the rest of the Board and then I will support the School Building Committee (SBC) as they move forward investigating options for school building projects.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
All are welcome to view recorded BOE meetings on Willington’s YouTube page. I am especially proud of the joint (BOS, BOE, BOF, CIP, Senator Gordon and Representative Nuccio) meeting that I lead on September 4, 2025.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
