Car Becomes Precariously Perched On Speed Limit Sign After Crash In Stafford
Wes Stafford Fire crews made quick — and careful work — of a car crash Wednesday evening.

STAFFORD, CT — The only thing keeping a car from careening down an embankment after a crash in Stafford Wednesday evening was, ironically, a speed limit sign.
West Stafford Fire Department officials said the single-car accident took place at about 6 p.m. on Route 190, just west of Route 30.
Responding crews encountered car that gone over a guardrail on the bridge spanning Middle River, fire officials said. Two "elderly occupants" were still in the vehicle and a rescue crew was also called in, fire officials said.

Fire officials said the car was being held up on a steep embankment by a front wheel and the speed limit sign. The two occupants were helped out of the car and transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital by Stafford Ambulance as a precaution.
The car was then hauled away.
