Civilian Snags Keys From Drunken UTV Driver On Busy Road In Stafford: Police
A man in a utility task vehicle is facing a DUI charge after being stopped on a busy public road in Stafford, state police said.

STAFFORD, CT — A drunken driver in a utility task vehicle was stopped first by a civilian and then by state police on a dark, busy road in Stafford late last week, a report shows.
According to an arrest report, at 10:48 p.m. on July 3, state police received a report from a caller who had taken the UTV's keys away from the driver, who was parked along the eastbound shoulder of the 200 block of Chestnut Hill Road and exhibiting signs of impairment.
Chestnut Hill Road is the local name for state Route 190.

State police arrived at the scene and the driver, a 45-year-old Somers man, subsequently failed sobriety tests, according to an arrest report.
He was charged with driving under the influence and given a court date of July 15, records show.
