HARTFORD – State Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-35th District) has been reappointed by Republican Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding as the ranking senator on the legislature’s Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

Gordon has also been named ranking senator of the Planning and Development Committee.

"I am very honored to be reappointed as ranking senator on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and to have an opportunity to be the ranking senator on the Planning and Development Committee," Gordon said. "Thank you to Sen. Harding for his confidence and support in me. These are important committees for the 35th State Senate District and for our state. In the upcoming 2025 legislative session, I will continue my work to help our Veterans and their families, who deserve our thanks and appreciation. I will also continue my work on behalf of our towns and keep working in a bipartisan way to address housing affordability and the high cost of living we all feel in Connecticut, while at the same time respecting and upholding local decision-making for people to decide what is best for the towns in which they live and raise their families."

Harding said, "Senator Gordon's many years of first-hand experience as a former chair of Woodstock’s Planning and Zoning Commission and his work on many housing and municipal issues positions him well to broaden his state leadership work on the Planning and Development Committee. Additionally, Senator Gordon has been very involved in issues of importance to veterans and those serving in the military and to their families. He is an ideal person to continue in this role."

The Veterans and Military Affairs Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to military and Veterans affairs, except Veterans pensions.
