Grappler From Stafford Captures CIAC Divisional Championship

KILLINGLY, CT — A grappler from Stafford High School turned in a championship performance at the CIAC Class S divisional wrestling meet Saturday at Killingly High School.

Kaiden Jellison scored a 4-3 decision over Joey Bernardi of Nonnewaug to capture the 175-lb. title. Seven other Bulldogs were placewinners, including a runner-up showing by John Bean at 106 lbs., enabling Stafford to compile 172 points, good for second behind the 221.5 of host Killingly. 35 teams scored points.

The State Open is scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
