New Federal Defense Spending Bill Benefits Stafford Company

The federal defense bill that passed the U.S. House Thursday impacts a Stafford company, U.S. Rep Joe Courtney said.

STAFFORD, CT — The federal defense budget bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday has a major impact on a Stafford company, U.S. Rep Joe Courtney said.

Courtney (D-2nd District) said his was one of the yes votes that led to a 310-118 passage of the $886 billion spending plan.

The affirmation sent the bill to the President's desk.

Courtney is ranking member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee and a member of the Conference Committee that negotiated the final bill. Courtney said highlights include new forms of support for American service members and their families, a record level of funding for shipbuilding and submarine procurement, and a "pathway to execute the AUKUS mission."

In terms of DOD microelectronics programs, the bill authorizes $5 million for the Department of Defense to continue development and acquisition of "critical technology materials and components required for DOD platforms," like those produced at TTM Technologies in Stafford, Courtney said.
