WILLINGTON, CT — A pedestrian was hit in Willington over the weekend, state police said.

The incident took place at the I-84 eastbound rest area on Saturday at 11:17 a.m., according to a state police crash report.

State police said in a crash report that a 63-year-old Monmouth, Maine, man drove a Ford F-150 pickup truck into the rest area and, for an unknown reason, suddenly began backing up.

That's when the truck hit a pedestrian who was crossing the parking lot, cause a minor injury to the 72-year-old man from Wurtsboro, NY. When the pedestrian yelled to the pickup truck driver that he had been hit, the pickup driver yelled a profanity at him and left the scene on I-84, according to a crash report.

Despite the injury, the pedestrian declined medical attention at the scene.

State police are investigating the incident.
