STAFFORD, CT — A weekend crash in Stafford left a small car taking on a big stump, state police said.

And the stump won.

The crash took place at 1:31 a.m. Saturday, state police said.

According to a crash report, a 71-year-old man from the Feeding Hills section. of Agawam, MA, was driving a 2016 Scion southbound on Spellman Road and suddenly veered off the pavement. The car traveled onto an embankment and then crashed onto a large tree stump, bounced off it and landed halfway on back on the road, according to a crash report.

The driver suffered a minor injury and was issued a written warning for failure to drive right, according to a crash report.
