State Police Dog Catches — Then Helps — Driver Who Ran From Stafford Motorcycle Crash
A fleeing driver was caught by a state police dog with the help of alert neighbors in Stafford.

STAFFORD, CT — A motorcycle driver was tracked down — then helped by Troop C police dog Viper after he fled the scene of a crash over the weekend, state police said.
State police released details of the incident Wednesday.
At 8:15 p.m. Sunday, troopers were dispatched to the area of Route 140 and Cooper Lane in Stafford for a motorcycle crash.

State police were told via 911 calls that the driver of the Suzuki GSXR had fled the scene on foot and an alert neighbor on Charter Avenue observed a man matching the description of the driver running into the woods behind another residence, according to an incident report.
With the neighbor's help, police dog Viper was put on the driver's trail and immediately began tracking, according to an incident report. Viper subsequently located the driver, who was injured, hiding down a swampy embankment, according to an incident report.

The driver was was taken into custody without further incident and transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. The driver was issued a summons for several motor vehicle offenses.
