STAFFORD, CT — An "almost there" text message turned out to be the wrong thing to do for a driver in Stafford last week.

The incident took place on Upper Road in Stafford on Dec. 1.

At 10:44 p.m. that day, a 46-year-old Enfield woman was heading to Stafford to visit a "boyfriend," according to a crash report. The woman sent a text message to the man indicating she was to arrive shortly, but in doing so, took her eyes off the road, according to a crash report.

The 2014 Fiord Explorer then veered to the left and struck a utility pole, according to a crash report.

The pole and the woman were unhurt, but the vehicle was wrecked, according to a crash report.

The driver was issued a ticket, state police said.
