STAFFORD, CT — A tractor-trailer ran over a fire hydrant in Stafford.

State police released the details of the Dec. 23 incident this week.

According to a crash report, at 12:23 p.m. that day, a tractor-trailer registered out of Tennessee and being driven by a 49-year-old Pennsylvania man was headed west on High Street. The truck began turning left onto Fiske Avenue, but a driver's side rear tire on the its trailer hit a hydrant on the corner, according to a crash report.

The hydrant broke off at its base, state police said.

The driver was issued an infraction ticket for a lane violation.
