STAFFORD, CT — A driver attempting an illegal pass was blamed for a two-car crash in Stafford last week, state police said.

The incident occurred at 6:08 a.m. on Jan. 2, state police said. According to a crash report, both a 2016 Kia Forte sedan and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck were traveling south on Old Springfield Road, about a quarter-mile north of Tetrault Road.

The driver of the truck, a 54-year-old Somers man, crossed over the double yellow line in an attempt to pass the Kia, but the cars sideswiped each other in the process., according to a crash report.

No one was hurt and the driver of the truck was cited for unsafe passing, according to a crash report.
