STAFFORD, CT — The driver of a utility task vehicle that crashed in a public street in Stafford in the summer was drunk, a warrant states.

The case dates back to Aug. 31, when a UTV crashed near 92 Chaffee Road in Stafford. When state police arrived, they discovered that the UTV was in the public street during the accident, according to a warrant.

The 61-year-old driver, a Stafford resident, was ultimately airlifted to an area hospital after suffering "significant blood loss," according to a warrant.

While at the hospital, tests showed he was intoxicated, according to a warrant.

The man recovered and was charged on Oct. 18 with driving under the influence, a lane violation, making an improper turn, driving without the minimum insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle, according to a warrant.
