City of Stamford Announces Changes to Intersection Improvements Project

The City will be making parking changes to the Atlantic Street & Henry Street Intersection Improvements Project # 135-320.

STAMFORD, CT – In accordance with the City of Stamford and the Connecticut Department of Transportation Policy on Public Outreach process, the City of Stamford is announcing changes to the project design presented at a Public Information Meeting at Thursday, August 8, 2013 in the Lathon Wider Community Center. The significant difference between the plan presented at the meeting with off-street parking and the final plan is the redesigned parking as curbside parking in the same vicinity.

As presented at the August 2013 meeting, the excess property at 740 Henry Street was conceptually planned to accommodate seven parking spaces. Through refinement of the design, it was determined that the excess property could only accommodate a total of four parking spaces. However, due to the extremely close proximity of the parking area driveway to the intersection with Atlantic Street, it has also been decided that traffic safety and operations in this area would be compromised. Therefore, the design has been changed to eliminate the off-street parking and provide an alternative design to with five on-street (curbside) spaces in the vicinity of 740 Henry Street. This proposal will result in a net gain of an additional space from previous design.
