Clive Davis To Be Honored By Stamford's Avon Theatre

Clive Davis will be honored with the 2025 Avon Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award later this year.

STAMFORD, CT — The Avon Theatre Film Center will honor renowned music executive Clive Davis with its 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his decades-long influence on the entertainment industry. The award ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Avon Theatre – Deborah & Chuck Royce Cinema Arts Center in Stamford.

Davis, a five-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, is widely credited with shaping the careers of legendary artists including Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Santana, and Alicia Keys. Over more than six decades, he has played a central role in defining the sound and direction of popular music.

"Clive Davis is a once-in-a-generation visionary whose impact transcends music," said Peter H. Gistelinck, executive director of the Avon Theatre, in a prepared statement. "His story is also one of resilience, creative risk-taking, and relentless pursuit of excellence, values we hold dear at the Avon Theatre as well. We are deeply honored to recognize his remarkable legacy."

The Avon Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates individuals whose work has significantly shaped the arts, media, and storytelling. Actor and producer Michael Douglas received the award last year.

This year’s ceremony will include a retrospective of Davis’s work in both music and film, as well as tribute performances. Davis is expected to attend.

Deborah and Chuck Royce, founders of the Avon Theatre and longtime supporters of the arts in Fairfield County, expressed their enthusiasm for the event.

"We are thrilled to welcome Clive Davis to the Avon. His passion for artistic expression, innovation, and storytelling aligns perfectly with the theater's mission. This will be an unforgettable evening for Stamford and the wider community," they said in a joint statement.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Avon Theatre’s nonprofit programming, which includes independent cinema, educational outreach, and community partnerships. Ticket and sponsorship information is available at avontheatre.org.
