Details Announced For Stamford's 2025 Juneteenth Celebration
Organizers say the event will showcase Black culture through food, entertainment and fun activities.
GREENWICH, CT — The city of Stamford will hold its fifth citywide Juneteenth celebration on June 14.
Slated for 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., the theme of this year's event is "family and community."
A flag-raising ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., followed by a parade from the Stamford Government Center to Mill River Park at 1:30 p.m. A celebration in Mill River Park will begin at 3 p.m.

Juneteenth marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation. Union Army General Gordon Granger delivered the news to those still enslaved in Galveston, Texas, that they were free.
